What we collect, and why
| When | What | Why |
|---|---|---|
| You send a review (optional) | What happened, any rates you chose to add, and, only if you tick the box, your first name and city. | To show your comment on the site after we have read it. We never show your email. Ask us to remove it at any time. |
| You use a free tool | Loan figures you type and any PDF you drop in. These stay in your browser. We never receive them. | To work out your result on screen. |
| You tick "remember my details" | Those details, saved in your own browser on this device. | So you do not retype them. |
| You create an account | Your email and the sign-in code we send it. | To sign you in and send the emails you want. |
| You add a loan or credit report | Lender, amount, rate, tenure, EMI, fees, and your credit score with a few summary figures. The PDF is read in your browser and is not uploaded. | To show what each loan could save you and tell you when something changes. |
| You ask for a download by email | Your email, which file you asked for, whether you ticked the box to hear from us, and, for the letter, the text you typed. The file is attached to one email. | To send you the file and keep a record. We write to you again only if you ticked the box, and every email has an unsubscribe link. |
| You send us feedback | What you type in the form: what happened with your loan, an optional lender, rates and email, and any suggestion. No sign-in is needed, and we ask you not to write names or account numbers. | To learn whether the tools work, and to improve them. We email you only if you gave an address and agreed to a follow-up. |
| You ask for alerts or share a rate | Your email with your loan amount and rate; or the lender, rate, amount band and tenure you got. Shared rates show only as averages, and only when five or more people report the same lender. | To email you what a rate decision means, and to publish real rates. |
| You pay | Plan, amount, date and payment ID. We never see your card, UPI or bank details. | To give you the plan and keep tax records. |
| You visit or write to us | Server logs (IP address, time, page, device, errors) and your message. | Security, and to answer you. |
We do not ask for your PAN, Aadhaar, bank account number, card number or passwords. Please do not enter them.
Security and how long we keep data
Everything travels over HTTPS, data is encrypted at rest, and each account can read only its own rows. We keep access logs for at least a year. If your data is ever breached, we tell you without delay in plain words and report it to the Data Protection Board and CERT-In as the law requires.
- Free tools: we keep nothing.
- Account data: while your account is open. Ask us to close it and we erase everything, including your email, within 30 days.
- Payment and tax records: as long as tax law requires, generally 6 years.
Your choices and rights
We use your data only for the reasons above and only with your consent. You can withdraw it any time, as easily as you gave it: switch a feature off in My account > Emails, press Delete my data in My account > Plan and data, or email support@loancheckup.in to close the account completely.
Under the DPDP Act you can also ask what data we hold, have it corrected or erased, and name someone to act for you. Email support@loancheckup.in from your account address. We aim to reply within 2 working days and finish within 30 days, free of charge, after confirming it is you. Unhappy with our answer? You can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
LoanCheckup is for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
